Farm Benchmarks – Benchmarks on the financial performance of actual dairy farms can be useful in evaluating the performance of your farm or farms in general or by categories. In the mid-1990s, a national project was offered to facilitate the collection of such data. The information collected at that time is available below and the site remains available to any producer who would like to contribute new information.
Similar benchmark information is available for a large sample of New York farms, representing a broad range of farm types, on an annual basis. Reports from the NY Dairy Farm Business Summary can be obtained from Linda Putnam or Wayne Knoblauch, at Cornell University. Representative farms, representing styles and conditions characteristic of numerous states around the US are regularly maintained by Texas A&M University.
