Other Areas of Responsibility:

Research and Extension Program

My research and extension responsibilities focus on the economics of dairy markets, spanning federal and state price policies, marketing operations, and market performance. Specific interests are in marketing systems, marketing policy, the efficiency of markets, interregional competition, transportation, and operations analysis. My extension program stresses economic and policy outlook and aims to focus on issues of current and future importance to policy-makers and industry decision-makers.

Administrative Responsibilities

I was appointed Chair of the Department of Applied Economics and Management in 1993. In this position, I have programmatic and administrative responsibility for a large academic department which has an active mission in research, teaching, and extension. The Department consists of over 40 faculty, about 60 professional and support staff, over 750 undergraduate students, and 75 graduate students. The department budget from all sources is about $8 million.
